Cyclo-cross Secretary Steve Bale has nominated next Sunday’s event at Chiltern Edge School for selecting Reading Cycling Club’s CX champion for 2011. The award will go to the highest-placed RCC finisher in the 13:00 race.
Bale notes “It’s going to be massive with a combined Wessex/Central league and all vets, seniors, women and juniors racing together. Absolute carnage likely IMHO! Still, it’s on our doorstep and about the only suitable combined race event possible for a champs.”
Rules on competitors machines are pretty relaxed, with mountain bikes and disk brakes permitted, so you don’t have to have a proper CX bike to have a crack at this. There is even an “Adult Novice” event at 11:00 if you have always wanted to give ‘cross a try and don’t feel up to pitching into the main event.
There is no entry in advance – you sign-up for the race on the day.
Riders intending to race in the 13:00 event are advised to arrive at least an hour before the start to be sure of a start.
